Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my vehicle need a tracker or immobiliser?

Thieves have access to technology that allows them to easily steal your vehicle even though your vehicle comes from factory with security, this is easily bypassed with the right equipment and knowledge. With this is mind, we would always recommend aftermarket security as its proven to beat the thieves and keep your vehicle secure.

What’s better, A tracker or Immobiliser?

We always favour Immobilisers due to the fact a tracker may only alert you once the vehicle has been stolen, and trackers are often jammed or found and removed by thieves whereas immobilisers are not detectable and prevent the vehicle being stolen in the first place.

If a immobiliser is better, why do you sell trackers?

Trackers offer different levels of security such as an S5 Tracker which comes with driver i.d fobs. A Tracker paired with an immobiliser offers you strong protection as an immobiliser may not always protect your vehicle from being towed away whereas a S5 Tracker will send an alert if the vehicle is moved without the driver i.d fobs present.

Whats the difference between insurance approved and non insurance approved Trackers?

An insurance approved Tracker (S7 or S5) has been through Thatcham testing and is also monitored by a control centre 24/7 but comes with a higher upfront and subscription cost. A non approved Tracker is not Thatcham approved and is not monitored by a control centre which makes it a cheaper alternative.

What is a Ghost immobiliser?

A Ghost immobiliser is a canbus device this integrates into the vehicles canbus network system and immobilises the vehicle by talking to the vehicles network and computers. Modern vehicles are equipped with a canbus network, this is essentially a bunch of computers that all talk to each other via special wires to make your vehicle operate in the way you know how. The Ghost immobiliser is a brand of many canbus immobilisers on the market and requires you to enter a pin code using the vehicles factory buttons before you can start or drive your vehicle.

How good is a Canbus immobiliser and can it be bypassed?

As there are many canbus immobilisers on the market, they are mostly achieving the same result which is very good in most cases however, they are only as good as the engineer who is completing the installation. It is very important to use a vehicle security specialist and not someone who offers car keys, programming, detailing or any other services as they usually wont have access to the best products on the market and wont be able to offer the right product for the right vehicle as these devices can use slightly different algorithms meaning they immobilise the vehicle slightly different from one to another.

Can I transfer my Canbus immobiliser to another vehicle?

Yes! In most cases you most definitely can have your immobiliser transferred from your current vehicle to your new vehicle. In some rare cases, your particular canbus immobiliser may not be compatible with your new vehicle due to the constant development and new technology in new vehicles however your security specialist will be able to advise you on compatibility,

What buttons can I use for my pin code?

Every vehicle is different and every device uses different technology meaning you will only be able to use certain buttons in certain vehicles. Your security specialist will test which buttons work at point of installation and will advise you of what buttons are available to use and which buttons would be preferred.
